Couples & Family Therapy
Therapy for couples, parents and children, and whole families who want to understand each other better and move forward together. Sessions are held by secure video, in English or Spanish.

Every family carries its own history, culture and way of communicating. When stress, conflict or change piles up, even people who love each other can end up stuck in the same painful patterns. Couples and family therapy give everyone a safe place to be heard, and a guide to help you find a new way forward, honoring your family's roots and values.
What Is It?
Couples and family therapy works with the relationship itself, not just one person. It can help with communication breakdowns and repeated arguments, trust, conflict and distance between partners, and parent-child conflict and behavioral concerns. It also supports blended families and co-parenting, generational and cultural differences within the family, adjusting to a disability, illness or special needs diagnosis, grief and loss that affects the whole family, and supporting a family member in treatment.
Approaches We Use
Family systems therapy helps everyone understand how each person's actions affect the whole family. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) changes unhelpful patterns of thinking and reacting, and DBT skills help family members manage strong emotions and communicate without escalating. Motivational Interviewing builds a shared commitment to change. Throughout, care is culturally adapted, respecting your family's language, culture and values in every session.
How It Works
Therapy begins with an intake session, where we explore what brought you in, your history, and your strengths. Together, we set clear goals and choose approaches that fit you. Weekly or biweekly sessions then help you build skills for daily life, with progress reviewed every 90 days.
- Hear every voice – The first sessions explore each person's view of what's happening and what they hope will change.
- Find the patterns – Together we identify the cycles that keep conflict going and the strengths your family already has.
- Build new ways of relating – You practice communication and problem-solving skills in session and at home, with progress reviewed every 90 days.
5 Steps to Get Started
Getting started takes five simple steps. First, one partner or family member schedules a free 15-minute consultation by calling or sending a message; we'll talk about what's happening and make sure it's a good fit. Second, each adult taking part receives intake forms through a secure client portal. Third, you'll attend a 60-minute intake session together so we can understand each person's view, your history and your goals. Fourth, together we'll build a treatment plan with clear, shared goals. Finally, you'll begin regular sessions from home, with progress reviewed together every 90 days; everyone joins from a private location in Arizona.
Fees & Payments
Amare ICS is a private-pay practice, so we don't bill insurance directly and are considered an out-of-network provider. This gives you more privacy, no session limits set by insurance companies, and care tailored entirely to your needs. We also believe cost should never stand between you and the care you need. Through our Income-Based Program, a limited number of clients receive reduced fees based on household income and size. Just ask during your free consultation, then complete a short income form in your client portal. No pay stubs or tax returns are required. You'll hear back within one business day, and eligibility is reviewed every 90 days.
