Adolescent Therapy
Therapy for teens ages 12–17 who are dealing with more than they can handle alone. Sessions are held by secure video, in English or Spanish, with parents and guardians involved in the ways that help.

The teen years bring intense pressure: school, friendships, identity, family expectations, and sometimes experiences no young person should have to carry. Many teens hide what they're feeling, and parents are left worried and unsure how to help. Adolescent therapy gives your teens a safe, respectful space of their own, while keeping you involved.
What Is It?
Adolescent therapy is individual therapy designed for teens, with family sessions added when they help. It can help with anxiety, stress and school pressure, depression, withdrawal and low self-esteem, trauma and difficult experiences, and grief and loss. It also supports teens dealing with anger, behavior concerns and conflict at home, bullying (whether being bullied or bullying others, in person or online), identity, peer and relationship struggle, and substance use, as well as youth involved with DCS, foster care or the juvenile court system.
Approaches We Use
Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) is a proven model for children and teens who have experienced trauma, and it includes parents in the process. DBT skills help teens manage intense emotions, handle distress and improve relationships, while Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) changes the thoughts and habits that feed anxiety and low mood. Motivational Interviewing helps teens find their own reasons to change. Family involvement, through parent sessions and family sessions, is added whenever it supports your teen's progress.
How It Works
Therapy begins with consent and trust, so your teen feels safe and you stay informed. From there, your teen helps set the goals and grows with support, with parent check-ins as needed and progress reviewed every 90 days.
- Consent and trust – A parent or legal guardian signs consent, as Arizona law requires. Together with your teen, we agree on what stays private and what gets shared with parents.
- Plan together – Your teen helps set their own goals, with parent input where it matters.
- Grow with support – Your teen builds coping and communication skills in regular sessions, with family sessions and parent check-ins as needed and progress reviewed every 90 days.
5 Steps to Get Started
Getting started takes five simple steps. First, a parent or guardian schedules a free 15-minute consultation by calling or sending a message; we'll talk about your teen's needs and make sure it's a good fit. Second, the parent or guardian completes intake forms through a secure client portal, in English or Spanish, including the Consent for Services for minor clients. Third, your teen attends a 60-minute intake session, with time for the parent or guardian, so we can understand history, concerns and goals. Fourth, your teen helps set the goals of the treatment plan, with parent input where it matters. Finally, ongoing sessions from home follow, with parent check-ins as needed and progress reviewed every 90 days.
Fees & Payments
Amare ICS is a private-pay practice, so we don't bill insurance directly and are considered an out-of-network provider. This gives you more privacy, no session limits set by insurance companies, and care tailored entirely to your needs. We also believe cost should never stand between you and the care you need. Through our Income-Based Program, a limited number of clients receive reduced fees based on household income and size. Just ask during your free consultation, then complete a short income form in your client portal. No pay stubs or tax returns are required. You'll hear back within one business day, and eligibility is reviewed every 90 days.
